Potts Point House
COMPLETED 2020 | FOX JOHNSTON ARCHITECTS
Located in the vibrant Potts Point locality, this house was originally built in 1923 and underwent major renovations in 1987. The brief was to reconfigure the existing footprint to provide better light and ventilation as well as add an additional main bedroom area. Our response involved retaining the houses original character by removing unsightly additions and carefully reworking the footprint to provide a light-filled and spacious home. A central garden courtyard was inserted at the rear of the existing house and a new two storey volume - connected via a bridge and stair - was placed to the north. This volume sits at a mid level and incorporates living and kitchen areas at upper ground level with a main bedroom suite and balcony orientated to the north-west on the upper level. An intimate roof terrace surrounded by garden sits above this new addition, enjoying city skyline and harbour views.
